Hali Katz

I grew up on Long Island and graduated from Syosset High School in 1997. I graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Emory University with a BA in Psychology and a 3.97 GPA. In 2004 I received my JD from NYU School of Law. I am now raising my two children in Syosset and have seen first-hand how competitive the college application process has become over the years. Most of the prospective college students I have spoken to have admitted that the essay portion of the application scares them – they don’t know where to start, their grammar is poor, they’re unsure of flow and sentence structure and they just need help. Well, I am here to help!

I have stepped in to help various friends and relatives with the essay writing process and realized that I can finally put my passion for writing to good use. I’ve always had a strong interest in writing. I have been a lawyer for 20 years. I am currently a part-time Knowledge Lawyer for a large law firm. I used to practice commercial real estate law full-time and made the transition to working part-time after having children. I’ve been working at the same firm for 18 years and have always enjoyed what I do. As my kids have gotten older and grown more self-sufficient, I find that I have some extra time on my hands. Since I’ve always liked to write, edit, and proofread, I have decided to supplement my legal work and enter the world of college essay editing and proofreading. As an attorney and a self-proclaimed grammar snob, I’ve been trained to pay attention to detail, especially in drafting and revising documents. I am diligent and responsive and take great pride in producing excellent work. In my role as a Knowledge Lawyer I am regularly writing, editing, proofreading and perfecting documents, and these have become skills that I use on a daily basis. I would love the opportunity to work with all different kinds of students, help them with their essays and ultimately to reach their college goals.

My Approach

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

Dream it

Don’t worry about sounding professional. Sound like you. There are over 1.5 billion websites out there, but your story is what’s going to separate this one from the rest.

Build it

Be clear, be confident and don’t overthink it. The beauty of your story is that it’s going to continue to evolve and your site can evolve with it. Your goal should be to make it feel right for right now. Later will take care of itself. It always does.
